ReStore
803 E. Brockway Ave.
Morgantown, WV 26501

What:
ReStores aren’t new. In fact, the oldest ReStore opened almost 17 years ago in Austin, Texas! Habitat affiliates operate ReStores as a way to earn additional money for their operations while providing a valuable service to the community.

Often, people will remodel or rebuild homes and have no idea what to do with the perfectly good items they don't use, and these items frequently wind up on the curb. Occasionally, large commercial stores must eliminate stock that’s brand new, and unfortunately it winds up in a dumpster because they have no place to take it. That’s where ReStores step in. We offer a tax-deductible option for individuals and companies with quality materials that they have no need for.

We then take these items, straighten them up if they need it, and price them at about 50% of retail cost or, quite often, less. The public is invited in during our open hours, and anyone is welcome to shop to their heart's content. We take cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Why:
Our mission is to eliminate poverty housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes with families in Monongalia County. The ReStore provides us with a permanent income stream, an alternative source of quality materials for the houses we build, and another outlet for us to interface with the community. In addition to that, many of the great items we sell would have wound up in a landfill—so we’re not just helping families, we’re helping the Earth!

Sometimes we receive items that we can’t sell, but often they can be recycled. We have partnerships with several other community agencies to ensure that items are recycled whenever possible. We throw very little away!

How:
People like you. It’s as simple as that. People like you are our customers, our donors, and our ReStore "family". Anyone can donate, anyone can shop and everyone is welcome. We ask our customers to tell their friends and families about the deals and service they get at the ReStore. Many of our customers learned about us through someone else—that’s just the way we like it. We’re always looking for dedicated volunteers, savvy shoppers, and new donations. Stop by and see us; we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
